This corridor, connecting six municipalities, is facilitating the coordinated mobility of thousands of people who travel daily for work, school, and commercial reasons. Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez has publicly stated that this project is part of a strategy to recover priority roadways in the state, with an investment of over 1.2 billion pesos, aimed at improving mobility in one of the areas with the highest vehicular traffic. According to the latest report from the Roads Board of the Government of the State of Mexico, more than 80 of the 108 kilometers being rehabilitated have already been worked on, following the accumulation of damage, deterioration, and imperfections on the road, with a backlog of over 20 years. The work is being carried out on four fronts simultaneously with high-precision machinery, allowing for the laying of 700 to 800 meters of new asphalt daily. Just over two months after work began, the reconstruction of the North Periférico has reached 75% progress, approaching its final phase with simultaneous intervention on different sections of this strategic roadway, one of the most heavily traveled in the Valley of Mexico, with over 204,000 vehicles passing through it daily and connecting key points between the state and Mexico City. The project, executed by the Government of the State of Mexico, involves the comprehensive rehabilitation of 108 kilometers, from the Toreo area in Naucalpan to the Tepotzotlán toll booth. It will have a thickness of 10 centimeters and an estimated lifespan of up to 10 years, and will also include improvements in signage, road markings, and LED lighting. On the completed sections, users have reported smoother traffic flow and reduced travel times. This project is part of the “2026, Year of Works in Edoméx” strategy, through which the government of Maestra Delfina Gómez Álvarez seeks to modernize the road infrastructure and improve mobility conditions for millions of residents of the State of Mexico.
